Everyday everyone has the opportunity to learn something new. As a teacher it is important to not only be up to date on the latest theories of the subjects one teaches, but it just as important to reflect on the day and decide if anything needs to change. These changes can be in the delivery of a lesson or how situations are handled. I've attended workshops and have learned a lot from them, by attending the workshops I have also gained valuable insight and ideas from experienced teachers.

Fire Safety for Childcare Providers
At this training I learned about how to properly use a fire extinguisher. There was also a stress on the type of fire extinguishers to use on various fires. The training also focused on how to safely evacuate a building, and other consideration that need to be taken into consideration when evacuating, such as the layout, and if the layout will allow for a quick escape or does an object like stairs prevent it from being a quick exit for your students.
Pediatric First Aid
At this training I learned about how to care for various minor pediatric injuries, like cuts, and bumps. I also learned how to care for pediatric injuries that need medical attention, while waiting for additional medical help from a first aid squad or EMTs.
Meeting the Needs of all Children Thruogh Differentiated Learning Centers
This training focused on the importance of maknig sure that each center is differeniated.
This dinner allowed participants to visit two different day care center. At the last day care, the participants listed to a presentation on child advocacy, and the importance of advocating for young children. With the 2010 elections still fresh in our memories there was a large focus on advocating with our votes, and voting for candidates that value education, especially early childhood.
Creating Learning Centers in the Classroom
This training focused on the importance of learning centers in the classroom. Although there was an early childhood focus, I still learned valuable information about how to use limited space in my classroom for centers, and also gained ideas from the other teacher that attended the workshop. One idea was to use ask a pizzeria for empty boxes. The teacher suggested attaching felt on the inside and placing felt letters on the inside. Children can then take these boxes back to their seat or another designated area of the classroom, to do an activity such as building their spelling words.
